Freedom Middle School continued the district’s plan to re-grade its buildings, complementing Heritage Middle School to house all 6th through 8th grade students. With a shortage of available land, this school was built on a triangular parcel of less than 2 acres bounded by a street and a railroad track. The primary axis aligns with the railroad berm, but the main entrance is located at an angle. To connect the building to the entrance, a freestanding colonnade frames the entry. All assembly spaces are located on the first floor to both utilize the greater ceiling height and to enhance security for after-hours use.
